Thiru Arunachalam, Founder and CEO
Thiru co-founded Peel in 2009. Previously at Booz & Company, he developed strategies for R&D optimization for CPG companies and helped media conglomerates create new growth opportunities. He was also part of the founding team at Exilant, a services start up. Prior to that, Thiru was an engineer and product manager at Apple, helping to author the first Mac OS X build system. He has a BS in engineering from NITT India, and an MBA from Wharton.
Bala Krishnan, Founder and CPO
Bala Krishnan co-found Peel in 2009, and has helped grow the company into the world’s leading provider of universal smart remote and home control solutions. Bala is obsessed with product visions that have the potential for massive positive impact on humanity. Leading the charge on re-inventing the remote control and re-defining the TV experience, Bala built and leads an amazing team of designers, engineers, analysts and die hard business professionals who are responsible for a radically different yet simple universal remote control experience that is changing the way the world thinks about content discovery, connected home device control and interactive television. Aside from Peel, Bala dabbles in personal aviation technologies, personal energy self-sufficiency technologies, paragliders and South Indian art.
Vineet Gupta, Vice-President of Distribution
Vineet is responsible for relationships with OEMs, service providers and strategic partners. He came to Peel from Nvidia where he was Vice President of Sales and Business Development, driving graphics intensive visual computing platforms into Embedded and Automotive markets. Prior to that, he spent 14 years at Oracle and Sun Microsystems as Vice President, Chief Technology/Strategy Officer, spearheading the direction, adoption and licensing of Java platforms in Mobile Phones,TV/STB/Blu-ray, M2M, SmartCards, and Enterprise markets. Vineet holds a Computer Science Engineering degree from the University of Texas, Arlington.
Sean Besser, Head of Platform
Sean comes to Peel from GetGlue (TVTag) where he led the company's business development, media partnerships, sales, corporate development, operations, marketing, PR and strategy teams as EVP Business Development. Prior to that he ran worldwide business development at ROVI. Sean has also served in business development roles at Movielink, EchoStar (the DISH Network), Fox Sports, and TiVo. Sean, a triple threat with journalism and law degrees from USC and an MBA from Berkeley, also serves on the DEG's Advanced Platforms Committee and a steering group for the Interactive division of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and is an active member of the Producers Guild.
Scott Gorton, Chief Financial Officer
Scott is Peel’s CFO. He has more than two decades of experience in strategic financial management in the tech industry. Prior to Peel, Scott served as the Vice-President of Finance and Administration of Azingo, Inc. and GlimmerGlass Networks, Inc. He also held senior finance positions with Siemens and Adaptec, Inc. Scott has a B.A. from Cornell University and earned a MBA from UPenn - The Wharton School.
Inderjeet Singh, Vice-President of Engineering
Inderjeet came to Peel through acquisition of Trymph, a mobile startup where he was the founder and CEO. Prior to Trymph, Inderjeet held senior engineering positions at Google and Sun Microsystems on products and platforms related to Android, payments, J2EE and other server-side technologies. Inderjeet has co-authored two books on the design of web-services and co-created several popular open-source projects, notably Gson. He holds an M.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University, M.S. in Computer Science from Washington University in Saint Louis, and a B.Tech. in CS&E from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Rajiv Bansal, Vice-President of Product
Rajiv leads product at Peel. Before Peel he led a variety of software and hardware consumer product teams at companies large and small. Among them are Microsoft, Logitech, Samsung, The Boston Consulting group and several startups. Better known products he has been responsible for include MSN, Hotmail, WebTV, Harmony, Squeezebox, Logitech Alert, Samsung Gear smart watches and virtual reality products, and SmartThings. Rajiv has a CS&E from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.
Daniel Loesch, Head of Monetization
Under Dan's guidance, Peel has developed some very unique advertising products, including our True Tune-In premium tiles and notifications which allow TV advertisers to drive trackable, one-click tune-in to their TV programming via the Peel smart remote app. True Tune-In advertising has been used by the History Channel, National Geographic History Channel, Reelz and others to drive cost-effective tune-ins. Prior to Peel, Dan managed mobile game monetization for Disney Interactive. Dan has a BS from Cornell, and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
Ryan Williams, Vice-President of Design & UX
Ryan brings to Peel extensive expertise in user experience and user interface design. Prior to Peel, Ryan brought his creative vision to Samsung, Citrix, and Apple. At Apple, he was the design manager and lead designer for the the world wide features of the iTunes store. Most recently, Ryan was Samsung’s Design Director for UX/UI/ID for Mobile and Wearables. Ryan has a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts and attended Stanford’s Graduate School of Business - Institute of Design.
James Ryan, Head of Marketing
James has spent the last 15 years in various sales and marketing roles for a variety of Silicon Valley startups, beginning with AvantGo, where he pioneered mobile advertising and content. He was founder and CEO of Mobileplay, a mobile social networking platform, which was sold to Good (Visto) in 2008 and most recently headed up marketing for personal VPN provider AnchorFree (Hotspot Shield). Prior to that he ran marketing at PlaySpan, a virtual currency and payments solution acquired by VISA. A graduate of Princeton and Columbia universities, James worked previously as a journalist and editor, writing for such publications as the New York Times, Business 2.0, and the Industry Standard.
Michael is the founder of Harrison Metal. Prior to Harrison Metal, Michael spent many years at eBay where he worked as Senior Vice President & General Merchandising Manager for eBay.com. Michael holds an AB in Economics, with a focus in Economic History, from Brown University, and an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
Steve Anderson, Founder of Baseline Ventures
Steve is the founder of Baseline Ventures. Since its inception, Baseline has invested in more than 75 companies and helped more than 25 companies exit profitably for founders and investors alike. Steve holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Physics and Business from the University of Washington.
Mitch Kapor is a true pioneer of the personal computing industry and has been at the forefront of information technology for more than 30 years as an entrepreneur, software designer, and investor. He is widely known as the founder of the Lotus Development Corporation and the designer of Lotus 1-2-3.
Satish Dharmaraj, Partner at Redpoint Ventures
Satish Dharmaraj is a partner with Redpoint Ventures. Previously he was the founder/CEO of Zimbra. Satish focuses on investments in the mobile, consumer and cloud computing areas. Satish has B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Sciences and an executive management degree from the Harvard Business School.
Jay Eum, Co-Founder and Managing Director of TransLink Capital
Jay Eum is a co-founder and managing director of TransLink Capital. Most recently, Jay was the head of Samsung Ventures America. He was responsible for starting up the U.S. operations for Samsung Venture Investment Corp., the venture investment arm of Samsung, and leading their U.S.-based investments and portfolio management. Jay received his MBA degree from Stanford University and an M.S. in Biochemistry and B.S. in Chemistry from Seoul National University.
Bipul Sinha, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners
Bipul Sinha is a partner at Lightspeed and focuses primarily on software, mobile, and Internet sectors with a particular interest in cloud services/infrastructure and social utilities/apps. Bipul received his B.Tech. (Honors) in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur and holds an MBA from The Wharton School where he was a Palmer Scholar.
Hongping Zhang, Managing Director of Alibaba Capital Partners
Hongping Zhang is the Managing Director of Alibaba Capital Partners and Alibaba Group Holding Limited, Investment Arm. Hongping was previously the Executive Director at Northern Light Venture Capital. He holds a B.S. in Optical Engineering from Tsinghua University, an M.S. in Imaging Science from Rochester Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. degree from the University of San Francisco.
